Dr. May Chen joined Southbay Oncology Hematology Partners in May 2002. After receiving her Bachelors in Arts in Biology from Harvard - Radcliffe College, she received her Doctor of Medicine degree at Yale University. During her Internal Medicine Residency there, she spent a year researching lipid metabolism at the Rockefeller Institute. After her Residency, Dr. Chen worked as a Hospitalist at Mt. Sinai Medical Center. She completed her Medical Oncology Fellowship at Stanford University Hospital, including two years of clinical training and three additional years researching micro-array technology and UV radiation. She was the recipient of the American Society of Clinical Oncology, Young Investigator Award. Dr. Chen served as the Director of Cancer Care Services at O’Connor Hospital in 2005-2006 and as a board member of the American Cancer Society. Specializing in gastrointestinal cancers, as well as, women’s health and cancers, Dr. Chen is board certified in both Internal Medicine and Medical Oncology.
Dr. May Chen lives with her husband and twin children, and she enjoys hiking, bicycling, and playing the piano.
